Next Monday, 6/2/2014, I will be starting a weekly “quote” post, so stayed tuned!
For me the biggest sources of inspiration and motivation come from nature. When I take a walk or simply sit outside in the warm summer sun it inspires me, it gets the gears of my imagination whirring , and gives me the motivation and energy to create wonderful works of art. For instance When I look at the gentle curves of a leaf or the slender shape of a blade of grass I am reminded of the blade of an ancient and powerful sword such as Narsil, the wings of Smaug, or a birds wings. When I observe a towering tree, with its great might and majesty, I am reminded of the all-encompassing power of god, what better source of inspiration is there. it also reminds me of the mystical city of Lothlórien.
As you can see I am also inspired by the books I read specifically Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, also Riyria Revelations, the Death Gate Cycle, Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Sword of Truth, Sherlock Holmes, so on. Also the movies I watch including Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, Star Wars(the original trilogy). Batman(new version), The Matrix, Inception, Stargate, Star Trek, I could go on , but I won’t. In this case I am inspired by the creators imaginations to come up with such intriguing, exciting, and wonderful tales of fiction, and start coming up with ideas of my own. This in-turn motivates me to pick up my pencil and start drawing.
What inspires and motivates you to create art?
I have recently, last month, started using Blender. You may be saying to yourself “What?, is he making smoothies, or something?” short answer… no. Actually Blender is a 3D modeling program used by hobbyists, and professionals alike. It can be used for making short animated films, and even for creating video games. I am not experienced enough for either of those examples yet, but I hope to be. So far I have only made simple objects. Here are a few examples.
Its pretty awesome that Blender is open source, and free considering what can be accomplished with it. For some better examples I’d suggest checking out blenderartists.org.
